Many people mistake them for yellow jackets but the main difference is that these wasps make an open come nest. They are not as numerous as yellow jackets, but they are p
rotective of their nests. They often hide in cracks and behind shutters.
The other variety are the common brown wasp. They are not as prolific as they once were, however we have noticed they are making a comeback.
